Orders: Check who pays duties and taxes

Duties and taxes are fees set by the government of each destination country. FluentPet does not control these fees.

For international orders from the US warehouse, duties and taxes are charged at checkout and included in your shipping fees, rather than in the product price. This is called Duties and Taxes Paid (DDP).

If the shipping fees seem high, keep in mind that a large part of the shipping fee covers the duties and taxes that would otherwise be due on delivery.

For international orders from our shipping partner’s warehouse in Germany, duties and taxes are owed either before delivery or when your package is delivered.

FluentPet ships to customers in the EU from our shipping partner’s warehouse in Germany and from the US warehouse.

  • Items from the warehouse in Germany: These have a period (.) at the end of their product name.
  • Items from the US warehouse: These ship DDP, so the customs fees and taxes are included in the shipping fees at checkout.
  • Worldwide Economy DDP at checkout: An item in your cart ships from the US warehouse.
  • Items from both warehouses: You see two shipping options. A DDP shipping option is only available from the US warehouse.

To avoid customs fees, you can contact FluentPet support for an updated list of the items that ship from the warehouse in Germany.

Be prepared to pay duties and taxes on delivery for orders from our shipping partner’s warehouse in Germany. These charges are determined by your country, so FluentPet cannot be responsible for the fees charged or offer reimbursements.
