Data: Use FluentPet Connect with Home Assistant
The FluentPet Connect integration for Home Assistant brings your household’s Bases and Buttons into Home Assistant. Use it to react to Button presses in your home automations.
What it does
Section titled “What it does”- Each time a learner or teacher presses a Button, Home Assistant receives the press.
- Home Assistant shows the words of your household’s latest interaction.
- Home Assistant shows when each Base last reported, whether it is plugged in, and the battery level of each Base and Button.
- Bases and Buttons that you add to your household later appear on their own. Devices that leave your household are removed.
The integration only reads from FluentPet. It does not change anything in your household.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”You need:
- Home Assistant 2026.10 or newer.
- Until the integration is listed in the Marketplace: HACS, to add it as a custom repository.
- The FluentPet account that created your household. Only that account can set up the integration.
- For instant updates: Home Assistant Cloud, or a public
https://address for your Home Assistant. With either, FluentPet pushes presses to Home Assistant within seconds. Without one, the integration checks FluentPet for new presses about once a minute. You can change how often under Refresh interval in the integration’s options.
How fast presses arrive also depends on your Base:
- A Base that is plugged in and runs firmware 1.1.0 or newer reports presses within seconds.
- A Base that runs on battery reports presses in batches, minutes later.
Install the integration
Section titled “Install the integration”Home Assistant 2026.11 and newer have a built-in Marketplace. The FluentPet Connect integration will be listed there. Until then, add it as a custom repository in HACS:
- In HACS, open the menu in the top right and choose Custom repositories.
- Enter the address of the
FluentPet Connect integration repository,
https://github.com/CleverPet/fluentpet-homeassistant, and choose the type Integration. - Search for FluentPet Connect in HACS and download it.
- Restart Home Assistant.
Connect your household
Section titled “Connect your household”- In Home Assistant, go to Settings > Devices & services.
- Select Add integration and choose FluentPet Connect.
- Select Submit. Leave Advanced options as they are.
- A FluentPet sign-in page opens. Sign in with the account that created your household.
- Allow access.
Home Assistant adds your household with its Bases and Buttons. If the sign-in expires later, Home Assistant asks you to sign in again.
What you get in Home Assistant
Section titled “What you get in Home Assistant”You get one device for your household, one for each Base and one for each Button:
- Press (each Button): fires every time the Button is pressed. It tells you which Button it was and whether a learner or a teacher pressed it.
- Last interaction (household): the words of the latest interaction, in the order they were pressed.
- Last seen (each Base): when the Base last reported to FluentPet. A Base reports when it is used or on its own schedule, so a few hours without a report is normal.
- Power (each Base): Plugged in or Unplugged.
- Battery (each Base, and each Button linked to a Base): the battery level in steps of 25 percent, the same steps the FluentPet app shows. A Base shows no battery level while it is plugged in.
Presses from before you set up the integration are not imported.
For example, you can build an automation that turns on the porch light or sends a notification to your phone when your learner presses Outside.
If presses arrive late
Section titled “If presses arrive late”Instant updates are not working, so the integration checks FluentPet about once a minute instead (the Refresh interval in the integration’s options). Check that:
- Home Assistant Cloud is signed in with an active subscription, or
- Home Assistant has a public address that starts with
https://. You find it under Settings > System > Network.
Then reload the integration.
Also check your Base. A Base on battery reports presses in batches, minutes later. Plug it in for presses within seconds. Presses arrive within seconds only from a Base with firmware 1.1.0 or newer.
If setup refuses your account
Section titled “If setup refuses your account”Only the account that created your household can set up the integration. If you are a teacher in someone else’s household, ask the person who created it to set up the integration with their account.
Setup also stops when your account does not belong to a household, or when your household is already set up in this Home Assistant.
Get help
Section titled “Get help”- For problems with the integration in Home Assistant, open an issue at the integration’s GitHub issues.
