How do I install the FluentPet App?

The FluentPet App is available for download on Google Play or the App Store.

Can I use the same login for the App that I do for FluentPet's website?

Users who have an app login can use it to log into our website, but not the other way around. We would like to link/integrate them at some point in the future, but I'm afraid we don't have a set timeline at the moment.

What can I do in the FluentPet App?

  1. Each and every button press on FluentPet Connect is captured through the app. It enables you to track conversations, trends, and patterns to better understand what your learner is saying.

  2. You can also share your learner's progress easily and connect with other button teachers.

  3. The app also provides step-by-step lessons on how to teach your learner to talk.

Would we need multiple app accounts to track multiple Connect systems in the house?

No, multiple Bases can be added to the same household.

Can I edit or delete multiple events at once?

Yes! From the activity screen, long-press an event to select it. This activates the multi selection mode, you can now select multiple events.

Now you can select the 3 dots on the right side, which shows a context menu, where you can bulk edit and delete.

You can also split presses (i.e. one event per button press) and merge events (i.e. combine all presses of across multiple events)

Long pressing an event enables multi selection mode for bulk editing, splitting and merging.

Can I change the app email address?

No, please contact us from the email of your current app login, and we'll change it for you.

Connect (Broadly)

Do the button presses get sent instantly to the app or is there a delay?

The speed in which the notification will appear in the app depends on several factors, including the internet connection the Base is connected to.

  1. Typically, it takes between 10 to 15 seconds.

  2. Users with an unreliable Base => Wifi connection can see delays for 5-10 minutes, even up to an hour, depending on how often buttons are pressed (the Base will retry sending data ~5 seconds after buttons are pressed)

  3. As of July 2023, occasionally the Base will queue some data for a couple of days. We are working on a fix for this.

There are also a few cases where data will not log in the app. Please see known issues for these.

Will Connect Buttons be able to identify who is pressing the buttons?

No, but the app makes it simple to assign presses to the correct presser in seconds, and you can configure a default presser per Base.

Is the app necessary when using the Connect system?

The app is required when using the Connect system. You record the words played on your Base when a Button is pressed through the app. It also tracks all presses and your learner’s progress.

Can I use the FluentPet App to talk through the Base speaker?

No. It can’t do that and it is not currently a planned feature.

Can the original Sound Buttons and Speak Up Buttons use the App?

No. Our original Sounds Buttons and Speak Up Buttons do not have WiFi capability.

How does it work?

  1. The Base connects with the WiFi router at your home, office or wherever the system is set up.

  2. The WiFi router is connected to the Internet and the FluentPet's servers are "live" on the Internet.

  3. When your learner presses a button, the press gets sent to the FluentPet's servers.

  4. Then our servers contact the FluentPet app on your phone, and then you get notified.

So, you can get notifications in your house, at work, or half-way across the world!

What WiFi Network do I need?

The Connect requires a 2.4 GHz WiFi network. You can see all of the details here.
